Housecleaning is long overdue

The financial housecleaning by the Trump administration is long overdue, and realistically may never come again. Here is the fundamental reason why. To the average bureaucrat, they really don’t care. It’s not their money and as a government employee they quickly learn it’s better to keep your mouth shut. You need to “go along to get along.” I saw this often in my state employment years. Endure a little pain to restore country

I am compelled to respond to Mr. Randall Manning’s letter to the Mirror published Feb. 4. He states that President Trump broke the law with his pardons of those involved in the fiasco at the Capitol on Jan. 6 after the previous election. I can only assume he is really referring to ex-President Joe Biden’s pardon of his family, Democrats in Congress and Dr. Fauci for any crimes they committed or “may have” committed up to several years ago. Road work very much appreciated

I want to thank Gov. Josh Shapiro and chief engineer in Clearfield County for their quick response on Routes 2002, 2022, 2024. Drainage pipes were replaced, trees and brush trimming and roads repaved. We even got yellow lines painted. Roads were repaved in 2024. Thank you, Gov. Pardons should be rescinded

Donald Trump pardoned the convicted Jan. 6 “hostages” who violently attacked the U.S. Capital and injured many law enforcement professionals on duty that day. He then goes on to proclaim, “I am a friend of police, more than any president who has been in this office.” Really. During his first term, he pardoned Charles Kushner, his daughters’ father-in-inlaw. In his second term, he appointed him as our ambassador to France. Was there no better choice? In response to William Padamonsky Sr.’s letter to the editor, Feb. 5. Mr. Padamonsky, you got it right. I agree with everything you said. Donald Trump openly stated that he was going to be a dictator on his first day in office. He even began his takeover of our country before he was sworn in as president. He has all of the Republican Senators/Representatives so afraid of him that they will kowtow to his every wish, SCOTUS is under his control, he is Commander-in-Chief of the military, and he is using “Executive Orders” to get his dirty work done. Defend against chaos by being informed

Chaos — behavior so unpredictable as to appear random, owing to great sensitivity to small changes in conditions. That is what America is subjected to daily since the election of Donald Trump. Necessary agencies are being downsized or completely eliminated. Military troops are currently deployed at random for unusual assignments. Internet and broadcast communication are facing possible censorship or disbandment. When the general public is disorganized they risk the loss of democracy.
