Denis takes home girls golf title at Sunnehanna

JOHNSTOWN — Hollidaysburg freshman Crosby Denis won the girls portion of the Wheeling Scholastic Tournament held at Sunnehanna Country Club on Sunday. Denis shot a 92 and finished two strokes better than State College’s Hannah Kopac on a cold and windy day at the course. State College won the girls and boys team titles. Smith hits milestone for Mustangs

PORTAGE — Trissa Smith recorded her 1,000th career assist for Portage in a 25-21, 25-16, 25-15 win over Conemaugh Valley. DuBOIS — Clarion defeated Central, 327-341, in the 2A PIAA boys golf regionals at Treasure Lake on Thursday to advance to the PIAA championships at the Penn State White Course on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Kam Kerle and Devon Lauer each carded 80 for the winners. Hollidaysburg’s duo of Crosby Denis and Megan Ferris, the top seed, advanced to the finals of the District 4-6 Class 3A Girls Doubles Tennis Championships.
