DuBOIS -- Clarion defeated Central, 327-341, in the 2A PIAA boys golf regionals at Treasure Lake on Thursday to advance to the PIAA championships at the Penn State White Course on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
Kam Kerle and Devon Lauer each carded 80 for the winners.
Central's Griff Snowberger had the best score of the day, 75, and Nick Baum and Zach Oakes each carded an 82 for the Scarlet Dragons.
"We are extremely proud of this group of young men and will miss playing and practicing golf with them on a daily basis," Central coach Robbie Keith said. "Their work ethic allowed us to set a new standard of golf at Central for all future Dragon golfers."
In other PIAA regional action, the State College boys defeated Warren in a team playoff to advance in 3A. The Little Lions made three pars and a bogey on the playoff hole, and Warren made two pars and two players made bogey.
The McDowell girls defeated State College, 271-286, and will also move on to Penn State.

Tyrone cruises
TYRONE -- Emma Witkamp, Nicole Ramsey and Hannah McClellan swept the singles competition to help Tyrone defeat Richland, 4-1, in high school girls tennis.
Carena Eamigh and Bella Laird also won at No. 2 doubles for the Lady Eagles, who improved to 8-9.
