JOHNSTOWN -- Hollidaysburg freshman Crosby Denis won the girls portion of the Wheeling Scholastic Tournament held at Sunnehanna Country Club on Sunday.
Denis shot a 92 and finished two strokes better than State College's Hannah Kopac on a cold and windy day at the course.
State College won the girls and boys team titles. The Little Lions finished 15 strokes better than runner-up Central. Bishop Guilfoyle was third, Altoona was fifth and Central Cambria was sixth in the 15-team field.
Chris Warner of the Little Lions won the boys individual title with a 73, one stroke better than teammate Max Wager.
Central's Griffin Snowberger finished third with a 75. Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic's Nick Helsley and Altoona's Kreighoff Cumming tied for eighth with both carding a 78.
Tyrone's R.J. Royer tied Northern Cambria's Brady Houser and BG's Brody Partner-Gore for 12th by shooting an 80, and Central's Zack Oakes was 15th with an 81.
Central now 10-4
HUNTINGDON -- Lakkyn Dibert scored two goals, and Kira Trexler added a goal and an assist in Central's 4-2 victory over Huntingdon in high school girls soccer on Saturday.
Carli Hart added a goal, and Lacey Ripka had five saves for the Lady Dragons.

Altoona downed
Pittsburgh Central Catholic edged Altoona, 3-2, in a high school boys soccer game at Mansion Park.
Cohen Crawford and Jace Black scored for the Mountain Lions, but it wasn't enough to overcome three consecutive first-half goals by Pittsburgh Central Catholic.

Hollidaysburg eighth
STATE COLLEGE -- Hollidaysburg finished eighth at the Little Lion Invitational on Saturday in high school girls volleyball.
The Lady Tigers went 3-3 in the morning pool against Governor Mifflin (2-0), Hempfield (1-1) and Pine-Richland (0-2). They went 5-1 in the afternoon pool against DuBois (2-0), Conestoga Valley (2-0) and Shaler (1-1) before losing to eventual champion Hempfield in the quarterfinals.
Lucy Stanek had a team-high 30 service points and 13 digs, and Lexi McLanahan finished with 25 digs for Hollidaysburg.
Altoona also competed in the Invitational and did not qualify for the playoffs.
The Lady Spikers went 3-3 in morning play against Shaler (25-19, 25-15), Allentown Central Catholic (25-16, 24-26) and Philipsburg-Osceola (17-25, 12-25). In afternoon play, Altoona went 0-6 falling to Hempfield (10-25, 12-25), Wilson (18-25, 19-25) and State College (16-25, 20-25).
Ella Albright had 19 service points, 18 kills, 20 digs and five aces, Jorja Treece had 30 assists and Aunye Counsman finished with 51 digs, four assists and three aces for Altoona.

Noce takes sixth
GROVE CITY -- Ashlyn Noce finished sixth overall in 19:53 for Altoona at the John Sample Invitational on Saturday in high school cross country competition.
The girls finished fourth out of 14 teams behind champion Hampton and individual champion Josie Jones of Grove City (19:21).
Cam Woomer was the top finisher for the Altoona boys at 26th in 17:12. The Mountain Lions finished fifth out of 14 teams, and Dale Hall of Hampton won the individual title in 15:41 by one second over M.J. Potter of Grove City while Grove City won the team championship.
