Name: Issac Willinsky School: Portage Area Age: 16 Grade: Junior Sport: Football Athlete of the week achievement: Willinsky rushed for 227 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries, and he also ran in three two-point conversions in the Mustangs’ 37-34 victory over Conemaugh Township. Season update: Willinsky has 348 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 46 carries for the 2-0 Mustangs. He also has 11 tackles on defense. Name: Crosby Denis School: Hollidaysburg Age: 14 Grade: Freshman Sport: Golf/tennis Athlete of the week achievement: Denis won the individual girls golf championship at the Ebensburg Country Club Invitational with an 84 and shot a nine-hole round of 1-over par 38 in a regular season Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference matchup in wins over Bishop McCort and Penn Cambria. Name: Drew Wyland School: Hollidaysburg Area Age: 17 Grade: Senior Sport: Football Athlete of the week achievement: Wyland threw for 103 yards on 8-of-10 passing and ran the ball 19 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns, and also ran in a conversion to Help Hollidaysburg open the season with a 21-13 victory over Altoona. Name: Madison Peterson School: Glendale Age: 16 Grade: Sophomore Sport: Softball Athlete of the week achievement: Peterson hit a two-run inside-the-park home run to tie Glendale’s first-round PIAA win over Meyersdale and was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts and no walks. She then allowed just two earned runs in eight innings and struck out three in a complete-game win for the Lady Vikings over Carmichaels in the PIAA quarterfinals.
