Athlete of the week achievement: Snowberger won the season-opening, highly-competitive Happy Valley Invitational by shooting a 1-under par 71 and edging West Shamokin's Alex Talmadge on a card-off. Snowberger followed that by shooting a 77 to help Central go 6-0 in its first Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference meet of the year with wins over Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic, Penn Cambria, Westmont Hilltop, Bellefonte, Clearfield and Somerset.
Season update: Central is 6-0 and among the favorites to win the District 6 Class 2A team championship.
