Win helps Blue Devils get to the .500 mark

BELLWOOD — The Bellwood-Antis baseball team evened its record at 5-5 Friday with an 8-3 win over Central Cambria in high school play. The Red Devils came into the game at 6-3. Up 4-3, the Blue Devils scored four times in the sixth to seal the victory. Vincent Cacciotti and Zach Pier each had two hits and an RBI for B-A. ALEXANDRIA — The Juniata Valley boys and girls high school track and field teams were swept by McConnellsburg and Southern Huntingdon on Thursday afternoon. Maddie Hopsicker captured the 100 and 200 dashes, while Madison Sneath won the 1600 and 3200 runs for the Lady Green Hornets which lost 85-64 to McConnellsburg and 111-39 to Southern Huntingdon. WINGATE — In a high school track and field quad-meet from Tuesday, the Bedford boys topped Penn Cambria, 82-68, Huntingdon, 92-58, and Bald Eagle Area, 93-56, and the Bedford girls downed PC, 136-14, Huntingdon, 89-61, and BEA, 112-38. CARLISLE — The Altoona girls had no problems defeating Carlisle by a 123-26 score, while the boys suffered a 70-50 loss Tuesday in high school track and field.
