Win helps Blue Devils get to the .500 mark

BELLWOOD -- The Bellwood-Antis baseball team evened its record at 5-5 Friday with an 8-3 win over Central Cambria in high school play.

The Red Devils came into the game at 6-3.

Up 4-3, the Blue Devils scored four times in the sixth to seal the victory. Vincent Cacciotti and Zach Pier each had two hits and an RBI for B-A.

Central Cambria got two hits and two RBIs from Brayden Blasko.

Curtis Shedlock got the win with four innings of one-hit relief. He gave up no runs on four strikeouts and a walk.

Ronan gets second

LOCK HAVEN -- Tyrone's Brady Ronan earned two top-five individual finishes in the 31-team Lock Haven Bald Eagle Track and Field Invitational at Lock Haven University on Friday.

Ronan placed second in the boys long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 10.25 inches and was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.37 seconds.

Tyrone's Aiden Detwiler finished seventh in the 800 run (2:07.16) and was eighth in the 1600 run (4:45.97), and Rocky Romani was sixth in the 400 dash (52.58).

The Tyrone boys 3200 relay team was third in 8:29.17, and the 400 relay team was seventh in 45.18.

On the girls' side, Tyrone's Rebecca Lewis finished third in the long jump (16-7) and was seventh in the 200 dash (27.84)

Also, Bree Paul placed third in the 300 hurdles (48.26), Nicole Ramsey finished fourth in the triple jump (34-2.25) and was eighth in the long jump (15-10.5), and Addison Warren was eighth in the pole vault (8-0).

The Tyrone girls 400 relay team was fifth in 51.96.

Hershberger wins race

WINDBER -- Northern Bedford's Savanna Hershberger won the girls 1600-meter run in the 75th annual 18-team West Central Coaches Class 2A Track and Field Meet on Friday.

Hershberger won the 1600 run in 5 minutes, 36.90 seconds. She also placed fourth in the 800 run in 2:37.77.

Northern's Bella Gable placed second in the shot put (32 feet, 0 inches) and eighth in the discus (82-9), and Amberly Detterline was third in the triple jump (31-2) and eighth in the high jump (4-4).

Other top performers for the Northern Bedford girls were Halle Baker (sixth in triple jump, 30-4.75), Alaina Sipes (seventh in 200 dash, 30.49) and Kayla Sollenberger (eighth in 200 dash, 30.61).

On the boys' side, Northern's Dylan Miller was fifth in both the 1600 run (4:57.77) and 3200 run (11:08.40), Chase Imes was sixth in the 800 run (2:15.01) and eighth in the 400 dash (55.73), and Aidan Pittman was eighth in the 200 dash (24.56).

The Northern boys 400 relay team finished eighth in 48.23.
