Heights boys, girls both come away with victories

PATTON — Cambria Heights swept a tri-meet with Portage and Blacklick Valley in high school track and field on Monday. The Cambria Heights boys topped Portage, 91-50, and Blacklick Valley, 112-29. Trey Trybus won the long and triple jumps for Heights. Bode Layo won the high jump, shot put and discus for the Portage boys, who beat Blacklick, 103-29. The Heights girls beat Portage, 9645, and Blacklick, 126-14, while the Portage girls downed Blacklick, 99.5-40.5. Central boys capture Bedford invite title

BEDFORD — Tyrone’s Andrew Weaver won the boys outstanding jumper at the Bedford Giant Eagle Invitational in high school track and field on Saturday. Weaver won the long jump in 20 feet, 7 inches. Meyersdale’s Tristan Ohler (runner) and Penns Manor’s Alex Polemic (thrower) also won boys awards. Everett’s Sara Shaffer (jumper), Somerset’s Kamryn Ross (runner) and Richland’s Sasha Garnett (thrower) won the outstanding performer awards on the girls side. PORTAGE — The Portage boys topped Homer-Center, 86-63, but lost to River Valley, 82-67, despite wins in the shot put, discus and javelin by Bode Layo in high school track and field Wednesday. EBENSBURG — Central Cambria swept Penn Cambria and Bishop McCort in a high school track and field tri-meet on Tuesday. Dom Kuntz won the 800-meter, 1600 and 3200 runs to lead the CC boys past PC, 89-57, and McCort, 120-20. The Penn Cambria boys topped McCort, 118-22.
