Lady Bulldogs take down two opponents for softball sweep

CLAYSBURG — Claysburg-Kimmel capped off a doubleheader sweep by edging Northern Bedford, 2-0, in its second game in high school softball on Monday.

Isabella Paris threw a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts, while Mylee Mitchell threw a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts for Northern Bedford.

In the first game, Launa Musselman gave up just three hits and struck out nine with no walks in Claysburg-Kimmel’s 10-0 five-inning win over James Buchanan.

McKenna Black, Paris and Harlee Harclerode each drove in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs.

Harris leads Tyrone

SPRING MILLS — Sage Harris belted two doubles and a triple and drove in five runs as Tyrone broke open a 0-0 game after four innings to win 9-0 over Penns Valley.

Kaitlyn Rockwell tossed a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts while also homering. Ally McNellis had two hits for the Lady Eagles.

CC nipped in 11

EBENSBURG — Kylie Sweeney’s RBI single in the top of the 11th inning lifted Westmont Hilltop to a 10-9 win over Central Cambria.

The Lady Devils had scored in both the bottom of the ninth on a Rowyn Ruddek homer and the bottom of the 10th on a Kathryn Scott sacrifice fly to continue the game but came up empty in the bottom of the 11th.

Cali Lynch homered and drove in three runs for Westmont. Avery Biter and Kaydence Sinclair each had three hits for CC, and Sinclair, Ruddek and Kylie Ferguson each drove in two runs.

JOHNSTOWN– Madelyn Kittell went 4-for-4 to help Penn Cambria dispose of Johnstown, 21-11, in five innings.

Alyse Rabatin and Emily Farabaugh each had two hits and three RBIs for PC, Emily Cully drove in three runs, and Marley Shaffer had two hits and two RBIs.

Gabrielle Wilfong went 4-for-4 with two home runs and eight RBIs for Johnstown.

The Lady Panthers improved to 2-12.

Glendale prevails

FLINTON– Emma Gilbey went 4-for-4 with two doubles, and Madison Ball doubled, homered and drove in four runs to help Glendale overcome Ferndale, 11-8.

Glendale improved to 4-9, while Ferndale dropped to 0-12.

The Lady Vikings trailed 7-2 but scored six runs in the fourth and three in the fifth. Rosalie McClellan gave up just one run to Ferndale over the final three innings.

Elizabeth Kaufman added two doubles and two RBIs for Glendale.
