Tiger boys tennis ups mark to 2-0

The Hollidaysburg Area High School boys tennis team improved to 2-0 on Monday, going indoors at the Summit Tennis & Athletic Club to defeat a 2-0 Juniata team, 5-0. The Golden Tigers got singles wins from Ben Johnson (over Xane Whitesel), Felix Xu and Jacob Sidney. Whitesel is the defending District 6 2A singles champion. LEWISBURG — Bedford Area High School senior Leah Shackley earned another PIAA gold medal on Friday. Shackley won the 100-yard butterfly for the third straight season with a time of 50.29 in the PIAA Class 2A Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell University. It was also a meet and pool record. It was Shackley’s fifth career PIAA gold medal. Shackley swam a 52.20 in the prelims to earn the top seed heading to the finals by more than 3 seconds. Hollidaysburg swimmer misses out on 50 finals

BUCKNELL — Hollidaysburg Area High School’s Kaden Henderson competed on Wednesday at the PIAA 3A Swimming & Diving Championships at Bucknell University, where he came up short in his bid to make the finals of his 50-yard freestyle event. Henderson, a freshman, finished his event in 22.84. He came with a seeded time of 22.19. He placed 31st out of the 32 swimmers competing. The cutoff for the swim was 21.53 turned in by Spencer Alderson of Hatboro-Horsham. Area swimmers set to perform at state championships

From Mirror reports Seven area high school swimmers will compete over the next four days at the PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships to be held at Bucknell University. Bedford’s Leah Shackley leads the way as a four-time PIAA champion from her performances in the 100 fly and 100 back in her sophomore and junior seasons. She will be joined at the 2A event this Friday and Saturday by Tyrone’s 200 free relay team of Isaac Yeskey, Cameron Gallagher, Lucas Bonsell and Spencer Dunklebarger, along with Central Cambria’s Ethan Haycisak who is in the 500 free event.
