Altoona volleyball ousted in semifinals

NORTH HUNTINGDON – The Altoona Area High School boys volleyball team competed in the Norwin Tournament on Saturday where it finished in third place out of the 17 schools in the event. Altoona made it to the semifinal round against host Norwin where it lost, 25-18. Altoona opened up pool play by going 3-1, beating Trinity (25-11), McKeesport (25-22) and Penn Hills (25-21) while losing to Bethel Park (25-19). HOLLIDAYSBURG— Maria Malone struck out 18 of 21 batters, giving up just two hits with only one walk as the Hollidaysburg softball team opened the season with a 2-1 win over Bellwood-Antis Tuesday in high school action.
