NEW OXFORD -- The Altoona boys tennis team evened its record at 1-1 Thursday, thanks to a 5-0 win at New Oxford in high school action.
The Mountain Lions got singles wins from Luke Mitchell, Josh Adams and Brady Sassano to go with doubles victories earned by Avery Lanzendorfer-Aiden Aiken, along with Max Chile-Sean Ratchford.

Bulldogs cruise
CLAYSBURG -- The Claysburg-Kimmel softball team improved to 2-0, thanks to a 14-0 win in five innings over Tussey Mountain in high school action.
The Lady Bulldogs, up 7-0 after two innings, got four hits and an RBI from Emalee Cavender to go with two hits and an RBI from McKenna Black. Bella Francona added two RBIs.
Winning pitcher Launa Musselman struck out six and did not walk a batter. She gave up two hits.

LOYSBURG -- Leading 6-0, Southern Huntingdon scored 11 runs in the third inning of a 17-0 win over Northern Bedford in a high school softball game called after three innings because of the mercy rule.
Winning pitcher Ella Young gave up one hit, struck out five and walked no one. All 17 runs were unearned due to six Northern errors. Cayla Jenkins had three hits and four RBIs for the Lady Rockets.
Ava Helsel got the lone hit for NBC (1-1).
