Pirates’ Jones will join Curve this evening

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Monday that pitcher Jared Jones is scheduled to continue his major league rehab assignment with the Altoona Curve beginning tonight at PNG Field.
Jones, who is recovering from right elbow surgery, missed the entire 2025 campaign and returned to the mound for outings in Bradenton and Indianapolis. Last Wednesday, Jones tossed three innings for the second time in as many outings.
The 24-year-old righty struck out 47 batters in 44 1• innings with the Curve during the 2023 campaign and was named Altoona’s Pitcher of the Year. He held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his 10 outings with the team.
Jones made his major league debut with the Pirates with 10 strikeouts against the Miami Marlins in March of 2024 in 5ª innings. Jones picked up 132 strikeouts in 121 and two-thrids innings with the Pirates and recorded a 4.14 ERA in his debut season.
The Curve are home for a weeklong series with Harrisburg, which is 18-14 and in second place in the Southwest Division. Altoona is 11-21 in last place.
The Pirates, who are 22-19 and tied with the Reds for last place in the National League Central, return home after their weekend trip in San Francisco and will host the Colorado Rockies starting tonight for three games. The Rockies are 16-25 and in last place in the NL West.
