PITTSBURGH — Colin Hawkins, a 6-foot-3 junior guard from Colorado, has signed with the Pitt men’s basketball program for the 2026-27 season.

Coming through the transfer portal, Hawkins played two seasons at Gardner-Webb prior to his arrival at Pitt with two years of eligibility remaining.

Hawkins started all 31 games he played in a year ago and was fourth on the team in scoring at 8.2 points per game over 27.4 minutes. He scored in double-figures 13 times and led the team with 64 assists. Hawkins shot 44 percent from the field and added 1.8 rebounds and 32 steals. Those numbers were large improvements over his freshman campaign, when he averaged 2.4 points in just 11.3 minutes per contest.

Hawkins scored a career-high 15 points against Big South vhampion and NCAA Tournament qualifier High Point, adding four assists and three rebounds. He also had six points, four assists and a career-best four steals against Tennessee.

A graduate of Colorado Prep, Hawkins played a post-graduate season at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, a program that won the state title in 2022.

In other news, head coach Jeff Capel announced the hiring of two Pitt alums to fill out his coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.

Ricardo Greer, a 2001 Pitt graduate, has been named associate head coach and Ronald Ramón, a 2008 Pitt graduate, has been named assistant coach. Additionally, Billy Hubly has been promoted from assistant athletic director of scouting to an assistant coach.

“Ricardo, Ronald and Billy each bring something special to our program,” Capel said. “Ricardo and Ronald are Pitt men. They’ve lived this program, they’ve competed at the highest level, and they understand what it means to wear Pitt on your chest. Billy has been an invaluable part of what we’ve built here over the last three years, and his promotion is well-deserved. Together, we have assembled a staff that will elevate every aspect of our program.”
