Curve fall in extra innings
ERIE — The Curve managed only two hits Sunday, but still amazingly scored five runs and played 11 innings. The offensive issues still cost Altoona in a 6-5 loss to Erie at UPMC Park in the series finale. The Curve will enter the final six games of the season trailing co-leaders Erie and Bowie by 3½ games in the Southwest Division, and trailing Akron by 1½ games, so the playoff hopes are on life support.
