ERIE -- Quinn Priester turned in an excellent outing Friday in his next-to-last start of the season for the Curve.
Priester shut out Erie on two hits over seven innings, and Altoona finished with a three-hitter in a 3-1 victory over the SeaWolves at UPMC Park.
Priester (4-3) struck out five, walked two and lowered his ERA to 2.13 over his 14 starts for the Curve. The right-hander has allowed just 60 hits in 71ª innings, striking out 70 with 20 walks.
The Curve scored twice in the third inning, getting RBI singles from Endy Rodriguez and Malcom Nunez. Altoona added a run in the ninth before Tahnaj Thomas finished it off to earn his third save.
The Curve are now 3¢ games behind co-leaders Erie and Bowie in the Southwest Division with eight games to play. Altoona also is tied with Akron.
The Curve have two games left in this series, then will wrap up the season with a six-game homestand against Reading beginning Tuesday.
