ERIE -- The Curve got some good news in the personnel department Thursday, but there was bad news on the field as they had their four-game winning streak.
Erie pounded Altoona, 9-2, at UPMC Park, blowing things open with five runs in the fourth inning to snap a tie game. With the win, the SeaWolves remain tied with Bowie for first place in the Southwest Division.
The Curve dropped to 4 ½ games back with nine games left to play.
Altoona did get outfielder Matt Gorski back after he missed two months with a quad injury. Gorski was leading the minor leagues with 24 home runs when he got hurt running to third base two months ago. He batted leadoff and went 1-for-5 in his Curve return.
Endy Rodriguez, who has been red hot since coming up to Double-A, went 2-for-4. Andres Alvarez had two doubles, and Connor Scott also had two hits.
Reliever Enmanuel Mejia (2-5) gave up five runs on three hits in just one-third of an inning to take the loss.
