MS Walk set for Sunday
The Blair County Walk MS 2014 will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hollidaysburg Area Junior High School. Registration begins at 1 p.m.
According to Sharon O’Keiff, manager of the Keystone Branch Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, approximately 1,000 walkers are expected to participate to reach the goal of $78,000 by collecting flat donations. Walk MS is the society’s signature fundraising event across the nation.
The route of the three-mile walk is handicapped accessible. Froggy 98 will be on hand to meet and greet the walkers who will be led by Donna Himes of Froggy 98 and Carolyn Donaldson of WTAJ TV.
Sam’s Club has sponsored and will volunteer at the walk’s rest stop and promises fun and surprises for the walkers.

“The monies raised from Walk MS 2014 will help improve the quality of life for the 7,500 people living with MS in western Pennsylvania,” said Anthea L. Germano, public relations director for the Society’s Keystone Branch. “Walk MS and other events raise essential funds for research, education and direct patient services for people with MS, along with their families and caregivers. The ultimate goal is to make our world free of MS.”
At the conclusion of the walk, participants will gather for food and refreshments, as well as music hosted by Phil Sukenik, along with Steve Geyer playing drums.
