Central boys volleyball team claims first Mid-State League title

DuBOIS — Central outlasted DuBois, 25-13, 17-25, 23-25, 25-16, 17-15, in high school boys volleyball Wednesday to clinch the school’s first Mid State Volleyball League championship in the 35-year history of the program.
Christian Heuston had 19 kills and 12 service points, and Landon Rhodes dished out 40 assists for the Scarlet Dragons. Rhodes also led Central with 17 service points.
Blake Reynolds and Colby Gojmerac each added 10 kills for the winners.

EBENSBURG — The Bellwood-Antis High School baseball team scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday to defeat Penn Cambria in extra innings, 10-4, in a game that was moved to Central Cambria High School.
The Blue Devils, who tied it at 4-4 in the sixth, got two hits and two RBIs each from Chase Plummer and Maddox McCall.
Teammate Cam Swogger chipped in with two RBIs for the Blue Devils, who evened their record at 9-9.
Penn Cambria (7-11) got two hits and an RBI from Drake Talko and two RBIs from Jace Davison.
