TYRONE — Alex Brumbaugh’s first-place finish in 19 minutes, 10 seconds led the Tyrone boys to a 23-33 win over Bellwood-Antis in high school cross country action on Wednesday. The Altoona Area High School girls volleyball team knocked off State College, 26-24, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24, at the AAHS Fieldhouse on Monday night. Both the Altoona Area High School boys and girls cross country teams defeated State College on the Logan Elementary School course on Monday. Backed by Camdyn Woomer, Andrew Quinn and Kody Webster’s 1-2-3 finish, the Altoona boys won 17-41 to finish the dual meet season at 6-2. Denis takes home girls golf title at Sunnehanna

JOHNSTOWN — Hollidaysburg freshman Crosby Denis won the girls portion of the Wheeling Scholastic Tournament held at Sunnehanna Country Club on Sunday. Denis shot a 92 and finished two strokes better than State College’s Hannah Kopac on a cold and windy day at the course. State College won the girls and boys team titles.
