A rugby family reunion this weekend in Virginia

Colin, a junior at Susquehanna University and a former Bishop Guilfoyle football standout, will be leading the River Hawks against Duke University, in the initial game of the Division 3 bracket. Mentzer helps Tigers win shootout over CC

EBENSBURG — Jayden Mentzer scored in overtime to lead Hollidaysburg to a 9-8 victory over Central Cambria at the Northern Cambria Rec Center Tuesday in high school ice hockey. Mentzer finished with two goals for the Golden Tigers (3-2), who were tied at 2-2 after one period, 5-5 after two periods and 8-8 at the end of regulation. The District 6 2A Volleyball All-District teams were released on Tuesday with two Blair County girls on the first-team roster. Making the first team from Tyrone was Kylee Nelson while Addy Turek made it for Bellwood-Antis. Third-team honors were earned by Cambria Heights’ Carly Sowers and Regan Conrad, along with Penn Cambria’s Loren Stipanovich, Tyrone’s Bailey Woomer and Central Cambria’s Erica Brouse. The Inter-County Conference released its all-stars for the fall sports season for girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, golf, as well as boys and girls cross country. Making the first team in volleyball in the Mirror coverage area included Glendale’s Rachel McClellan, Juniata Valley’s Kassidy Watson, Claysburg-Kimmel’s Lauren Roxby and Ava Dibert, Northern Bedford’s Amberly Detterline, along with Williamsburg’s Scotlyn Barroner. Tigers ice hockey wins big

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Area High School ice hockey team led 3-2 after one period Tuesday night against Hollidaysburg at 1st Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial. It didn’t last for long. The Golden Tigers erupted for nine goals over the final two periods en route to an 11-4 victory to improve to 2-1 on the season. Isaac Miller, Jayden Mentzer and Cole Hartman combined to score nine of the goals for the Golden Tigers, who led 6-4 after two periods.
