From Mirror reports Claysburg-Kimmel and Glendale will both be traveling more than an hour Thursday when the Inter-County Conference rivals continue their runs in the PIAA Class 1A softball championship tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will take on Chartiers-Houston, the third seed out of the WPIAL, at Hempfield High School in Greensburg at 2 p.m. The Lady Vikings will travel to Somerset High School to take on WPIAL runner-up Carmichaels at 4 p.m. Six of the remaining eight teams in 1A are from either District 6 or the WPIAL. PHILIPSBURG — The Philipsburg-Osceola baseball team advanced to the second round of the PIAA Class 3A playoffs Monday afternoon, thanks to a 4-3 win over Avonworth in eight innings. Sam McDonald won it for the Mounties with an RBI single, his first hit of the game. Paker Lamb had two hits for the Mounties, who trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh before tying the game up in the bottom of the frame.
