Sport: Track and field
Athlete of the week achievement: Emigh won the triple jump at the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference championships with a jump of 46 feet, 10.25 inches. The jump, at the time, was the third-best mark in the state this year and broke a Tyrone school record. Emigh also broke a school record in the long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 7.5 inches.
Season update: Emigh leads the Mirror Honor Roll in the triple jump and is second in the long jump.
Coach Brad Kanuch’s quote: “Mason had an amazing day. We talked earlier in the year about what he wanted to accomplish. He wanted to break the school record in both the long and triple jump. He was able to do both of those on Tuesday and set big PRs for himself. He continues to get better and better each week.”
