D6 playoffs
Juniata Valley, which gave eventual state champion Southern Fulton a scare in the first round of the PIAA playoffs before falling by a run last season, will be the top seed in the District 6 Class 1A high school baseball playoffs, which begin Thursday.
The Green Hornets will play the winner of Thursday’s Williamsburg at Portage game in the quarterfinals on Monday, May 18.
That same day, third-seeded Claysburg-Kimmel will host either Blacklick Valley or Purchase Line.
In Class 2A, fourth-seeded Bellwood-Antis will host Moshannon Valley in the quarterfinals on Friday.
All three teams in the Mirror’s core coverage area will be on the road in Class 3A with Central Cambria traveling to play West Shamokin in the first round on Thursday for the right to play top-seeded Richland on May 18.

Portage and Bishop Guilfoyle Academy have a chance to be playing that day, but they will both need to win first round games. The Lady Mustangs travel to Northern Cambria on Thursday, and a win would pit them against top-seeded Conemaugh Valley.

In Class 3A, sixth-seeded Central Cambria will travel to third-seeded Westmont Hilltop in a quarterfinal game on May 18. That same day the winner of Tyrone’s game at Cambria Heights being played on Thursday will travel to top-seeded Bedford for a quarterfinal game.
