Tigers ice hockey wins big

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Area High School ice hockey team led 3-2 after one period Tuesday night against Hollidaysburg at 1st Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial. It didn’t last for long. The Golden Tigers erupted for nine goals over the final two periods en route to an 11-4 victory to improve to 2-1 on the season. Isaac Miller, Jayden Mentzer and Cole Hartman combined to score nine of the goals for the Golden Tigers, who led 6-4 after two periods. From Mirror reports HERSHEY — Juniata Valley’s Ella McCrum, Cambria Heights’ Savannah Hoover and Williamsburg’s Ava Dixon each ran to all-state performances and earned top-25 medals in the PIAA Class 1A girls cross country race in Hershey on Saturday. Central’s Lanee Berkhimer was a medalist in 2A after previously medaling in 1A, and Altoona’s Ashlyn Noce and Central Cambria’s Paige Alexander narrowly missed out on medals in their classifications. HERSHEY — Hollidaysburg sophomores Crosby Denis and Grace Muriceak went 1-1 in Class 3A doubles action at the PIAA Tennis Championships at the Hershey Racquet Club on Friday.
