PSU men’s hoops adds transfer

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State men’s basketball coach Mike Rhoades announced the signing of veteran guard Jay Rodgers on Wednesday for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Rodgers, who spent the last four seasons at Central Connecticut State, comes to PSU for his final year of eligibility.

Last year at CCS, Rodgers averaged 11.0 points per-game and 6.9 assists per-game while earning Northeast Conference honors. He ranked eighth in Division I in assists. He also shot 36 percent from the 3-point line.

Women add assistant coach

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State women’s basketball head coach Tanisha Wright named Octavia Blue an assistant coach on her staff ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Blue arrives in Happy Valley with two decades of collegiate coaching experience following a career as a student-athlete and professional basketball player in the Women’s National Basketball Association. Throughout her 20 years of coaching at the college level, Blue has mentored 17 all-conference players and 25 WNBA athletes. Between her time as a four-year letterwinner at the University of Miami and her career as a coach, she made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.
