HoopsFest event returning for 24th year

HoopsFest, the Mid-Atlantic’s largest outdoor 3-on-3 basketball tournament for all ages, returns for its 24th year on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in downtown Altoona.

Event organizers anticipate more than 250 teams with a goal of reaching 275 teams, alongside more than 1,000 players and 5,000 attendees for a full day of competition, community, and family-friendly entertainment.

This year’s event will be branded as “HoopsFest 2026 presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods and in partnership with Altoona First Savings Bank.” Organizers welcomed DICK’S Sporting Goods as a new corporate presenting sponsor, while honoring longtime partner Altoona First Savings Bank for its enduring commitment to the event and the Altoona community.

A major highlight of HoopsFest 2026 will be the halftime appearance by David Tyree, best known for his iconic “Helmet Catch” in Super Bowl XLII when the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots.

Following a 15-year career in the NFL, Tyree transitioned into leadership development, serving as Director of Player Engagement for the Giants. Today, he speaks nationally on faith, purpose, and values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to live with intentionality and integrity. In addition to competitive gameplay, HoopsFest will feature a wide range of attractions for all ages. A dedicated Kids Zone will include a rock climbing wall, EuroBungy, bounce houses, and face painting for children ages 4-12.

Attendees can also enjoy a variety of local food vendors throughout the day. New for 2026, HoopsFest will introduce both an Adult Coed Division and a Wheelchair Division as part of the event’s ongoing commitment to creating a memorable experience for players of all ages and abilities. Halftime festivities will include two fan-favorite events: the $500 Shot Contest and the always-anticipated Dunk Contest, drawing crowds and creating memorable moments in the heart of the city.

In celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary, this year’s HoopsFest theme is “United. One Nation Under God.” The event will feature a red, white, and blue color scheme to reflect the patriotic milestone.

Team check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., with game play starting at 9 a.m. Teams can register now at HoopsFest.Net with a registration deadline of July 15.
