Area runners complete historic Boston Marathon

BOSTON — Altoona natives Carly Port and Jeff Bartlett and Ebensburg’s Joel Takacs were among several regional runners to compete in Monday’s Boston Marathon.

Bartlett, who did not start running competitively until he was 48, ran his eighth Boston Marathon and has more than 45 marathons under his belt at the age of 61.

He ran Monday’s race in 3:52:59 and finished in 20,265th place.

Port, now 30 years old and living in Los Angeles, broke the three-hour barrier by finishing in 2:56:08 and ended up 4,523rd and 353rd among female runners.

Takacs, 39, finished even quicker in 2:53:3 to end up 3,755th overall and 3,515th among male runners.

Fellow Ebensburg runner Taylor Greggi, 29, finished the race in 3:10:44 and was 8804th overall and 1,681st among females.

Johnstown’s Blake Furman, 30, had the best regional finish with a time of 2:36:18 that helped him finish in 749th place and 717th among males.
