Name: Ella Cherry
School: Bellwood-Antis

Grade: Sophomore
Sport: Track and field
Athlete of the week achievement: Cherry finished third in the triple jump (38-4), fourth in the long jump (17-3.75) and fifth in the 100 dash (12.36) at the Jack Roddick Invitational. She broke the 46-year old school record in the 100 and broke her own school record in the triple jump. The 400 relay team (Chloe Stoltzfus, Cherry, Addison Pluebell, Avey Powers) broke the school record from last year and helped B-A win the team title in 2A. In addition, Cherry won four events (100, 200, long jump and triple jump) in wins over Bishop McCort, Somerset and Clearfield.
Season update: Cherry is first in the Mirror’s Honor Roll in the triple jump, second in the 100 dash, third in the long jump and fourth in the 200 dash.
Coach Jennifer Soisson’s quote: “In her second year of track and field, Ella is continuing to shine. On Saturday at Shippensburg University, she placed in her three individual events. Ella is an overall outstanding athlete who sets high expectations for herself and is willing to do the work to achieve her goals.”
