25 years ago: April 2, 2000 — For the Altoona Mirror Boys All-Star high school basketball team, Eric Castorina of Tyrone was named player of the year while Kraig Hetz of Hollidaysburg was named coach of the year.

10 years ago: April 2, 2015 — In high school baseball, Altoona Area downed DuBois, 7-1, John McGinley getting two hits, while Bishop Guilfoyle beat Forest Hills, 11-7, Aaron Yasulitis getting three hits. In junior high play, Deegan Teeter pitched a no-hitter as Claysburg-Kimmel beat Bishop Carroll, 7-0.
