ERIE — The Curve managed only two hits Sunday, but still amazingly scored five runs and played 11 innings. The offensive issues still cost Altoona in a 6-5 loss to Erie at UPMC Park in the series finale. The Curve will enter the final six games of the season trailing co-leaders Erie and Bowie by 3½ games in the Southwest Division, and trailing Akron by 1½ games, so the playoff hopes are on life support. Priester has strong outing in Curve ‘W’

From Mirror reports ERIE — Quinn Priester turned in an excellent outing Friday in his next-to-last start of the season for the Curve. Priester shut out Erie on two hits over seven innings, and Altoona finished with a three-hitter in a 3-1 victory over the SeaWolves at UPMC Park. Priester (4-3) struck out five, walked two and lowered his ERA to 2.13 over his 14 starts for the Curve. The right-hander has allowed just 60 hits in 71ª innings, striking out 70 with 20 walks. It’s amazing, really, that it took this long, since the Curve have had a whole bunch of outstanding players over the past 22 seasons.
