Paul Porinchak, beloved retired owner and butcher of Porinchak’s Market, the oldest family-owned store in Portage, passed away peacefully Thursday at home at the age of 86 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Johnstown, Paul grew up learning the values of hard work, honesty and community. Those principles guided him throughout his life, especially in his many decades behind the butcher counter at Porinchak’s Market, where he carried on the family tradition began by his grandparents in 1900. Frederick; his grandchildren; and brothers: Robert, Richard and Donald; He was predeceased by a brother, Samuel. Shirley Jean Hartman, 84, of Claysburg, passed Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Claysburg, daughter of the late Ira and Goldie (Walter) Claar. She married George W.
