Shirley Jean Hartman

Dec. 25, 1941 – May 6, 2026

Shirley Jean Hartman, 84, of Claysburg, passed Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Claysburg, daughter of the late Ira and Goldie (Walter) Claar.

She married George W. Hartman on April 21, 1962, in Winchester, Va. He passed away on Oct. 4, 2019.

Surviving are her five sons: Jeffrey, Michael (Sherry), Dale (Brenda), Mark and Craig (Clarissa); five grandchildren: Carrie, Justin, Megan, Brielle and Colby; two great-grand­children, Aubrey and Austin; and a brother, Larry Claar.

She was preceded in death by sisters: Mildred Bowers, Ivy Burket, Thelma Yingling, Eileen Grabill and an infant, Helen Marie; and brothers, Harold and Paul Claar.

Shirley was a 1959 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School.

She was a member of Claysburg Church of God.

Shirley retired as a pattern folder from Butterick Co. Inc. after 40 years.

She enjoyed watching her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, vacationing in Florida during the winter, the beach and looking for deer.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Mark Wyland.

Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Harry E. Miller Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Claysburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Claysburg Church of God Building Fund.
