Ronald F. Frye, 81, of Altoona, passed away Friday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Blair Frye and Vivian Walter. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Betty; daughters, Dorinda Folen and Wendy Longenecker; grandchildren, Jeffery and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Silas, Ellie and Ezra; and sisters: Lisa, Karen and JoAnn. He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Zane, Butch, Patty, Steven, Billy, Debbie and Cathy. Ron enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling, NASCAR and the Steelers. Planning Commission OKs plans for Antis dog day care

Blair County Planning Commission members Thursday gave a favorable review to plans to construct a dog day care facility in Antis township. Fornari Dog Day Care plans to construct a new 4,400-square-foot building at the former site of Gulish Nursery and Garden Center on Sabbath Rest Road. The project includes 20 parking spaces, dog runs and stormwater facilities. Portions of the site are within the 100-year floodplain for Sandy Run but the new building and area of site disturbance will be outside the regulatory floodplain.
