George J. Jacobs Jr., 88, Cresson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Lilly, son of the late George J. Sr. and Sophie M. (Sabol) Jacobs.
George was also preceded in death by his son, George Jacobs III.
Surviving is his loving wife, Olive M. (Illig) Jacobs. Also surviving are children: Tracy (Tim) Fishel of Cicero, N.Y., Margie (Joseph) Coho of Duncansville and Paul Jacobs of Lilly; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Jacobs of Gallitzin;
grandchildren: Kayla, Kristin, Steven, Samantha, Joshua (Jordan), Olivia, Melissa and Amy; and great-grandchildren: Nick, Kamden, Kayden, Mia, Lauren and Josh Jr.
George was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was a longtime member of the Cresson American Legion.
In his spare time, he had a passion for woodworking. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and going for long car rides with his wife and beloved "granddog," Casper. He especially loved going on car rides when he was able to stop at Burger Hut for ice cream. George was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, cheering the team on for every game. Most of all, George cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson, with the Rev. Leo Arnone celebrant. Committal at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Cresson. Military Honors will be provided by the Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and other local military organizations.
