Zelda M. Gondek Riddle, 79, of Altoona, passed away peacefully on Oct. 25, 2025, at home. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of Charles William and Jane Gertrude (Stewart) Kimmen.
She was twice married, first to Frank W. Gondek and later to George E. Riddle Jr., both of whom preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, Michael Gondek of Altoona; stepson, Samuel Riddle (Kristeen) of Altoona; grandchildren: Abby and Rebecca Gondek, Blake and Brylee Riddle, Danny and Ryn, all of Altoona; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Kimmen; brother-in-law, Joe Eckels; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her son, Frankie Gondek; stepson, George E. Riddle III; sisters, Jane Eckels and Mary Ann Nagle; and brother, Charles Kimmen.
Zelda was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a 1964 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School. She retired in 2012 from the Home Nursing Agency WIC program after 27 years of service.
She loved camping, hunting, fishing and traveling.
A proud member of the Lakemont Lions Club, she served as president in 2003-04 and was honored as Lion of the Year for her service.
A private viewing will be held for the family. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1405 Fifth Ave., Altoona, with the Rev. Clement Gardner officiating. Committal rites will follow at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
