Blair letter carriers take part in food drive

One of America’s greatest days of giving — the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive — will be held Saturday, May 9.

Since 1991, the Blair Bedford Labor Council and the Altoona Post Office along with the letter carriers have collected food every second Saturday in May with the exception of 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the group is asking the public to set out canned and dry nonperishable goods to help the many food banks in the area, including Reaper’s Food Ministry, Altoona Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, St. Vincent de Paul Pantry and Sacred Heart Food Bank.

Those wishing to donate are asked to place the donations in a bag by their mailbox on Saturday, May 9, and the letter carrier will make the pickup.

Starting at $2.99/week.
