Altoona man waives preliminary hearing in alleged shooting

Gonzalez Morla charged with allegedly shooting at wife, other man

A city man charged with allegedly shooting at his wife and another man waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday morning.

Danyi Alberto Gonzalez Morla, 24, is facing two charges of attempted criminal homicide, four counts of aggravated assault and one felony charge of firearms not to be carried without a license.

He was represented by defense attorney Thomas Dickey, and an in-person Spanish interpreter assisted Gonzalez Morla.

Gonzalez Morla’s wife and family member were present, sniffling and holding tissues while Gonzalez Morla signed the papers.

Presiding in place of Judge Paula Aigner, District Judge Carmine W. Prestia Jr. said Gonzalez Morla’s arraignment is set for June 12.

He’s being held in the Blair County Prison with bail denied.

Gonzalez Morla was arrested April 7 after pursuing the vehicle in which he found his wife and another man allegedly engaged in sexual activity. Gonzalez Morla caught up with the vehicle on Charger Highway in Blair Township and fired 11 rounds, with one lodging itself in his wife’s buttocks.

Starting at $2.99/week.
