GACTC recognizes students at banquet
The Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center held its annual Senior Awards banquet on May 9, honoring the school’s top senior students.
Students who received scholarships, awards and the “Senior of the Year” award in their respective programs were honored. Selected by each program’s teacher, the Senior of the Year exhibits outstanding qualities of success in skills as well as attitude and work ethic. This year’s event awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships, awards and tools of the trade.
The honored students are:
Altoona Area High School — Brody Albright, Isabel Anello, Ryan Bettwy, Samuel Bettwy, Hannah Cafin, Cohen Crawford, Samara Dawson, Levi Delozier, Roman Dunio, Colleen Erickson, Madasin Garrison, Daniel Kelley, Cordelia Maher, Jacob Milliron, Levi Moyer, Brycen Packard, Alec Strawmier, Chloe Uliano, Oli Walker.
Bellwood-Antis High School — Rorie Wolf.
Central High School, Martinsburg — Skyler Ferguson, Waylon Hinkle, Ethan Olivieri.

In addition, Roundhouse Harley Davidson & Roundhouse Powersports was named GACTC’s “Partner of the Year,” an award given annually to an industry partner to recognize their continued support of career and technical education and the school. Matt Burgmeier and his team at Roundhouse have played a pivotal role in revitalizing our Powersports and Equipment Technology program. Through their active involvement in our Occupational Advisory Committee and Cooperative Education Program, they have provided invaluable guidance, resources and mentorship to our students.
Eric Palmer, GACTC executive director, said, “As a result of their dedication and support, our Powersports program has seen increased enrollment. The program is full, and there are students on a waitlist to enroll in the program for the 24-25 school year. We are seeing a high demand from students eager to pursue careers in this field.”
