Invention convention

From left, Landon Polites, Brock Wharton and Grant Wharton — middle school students from Cambria Heights School District — earned second place at the prestigious RTX Invention Convention U.S. Nationals, held on June 6, at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich. Representing the state of Pennsylvania, the team secured their spot to compete at nationals after earning first place in the state-level competition earlier this year. The team’s award-winning invention, REST IQ, is a smart device integrated into a pillowcase designed to track and monitor sleep patterns, promoting more restful nights and easier wake-ups. Their innovation stood out among more than 200,000 students who participated in regional competitions nationwide. At the national level in Dearborn, the trio competed against 490 top inventors from across the United States.
