Eleanor T. Carson

March 8, 1935 – June 27, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eleanor T. Carson, a beloved teacher who left this world peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 90.

She was born in Canonsburg, daughter of David and Elizabeth (Hardwick) Troy.

Eleanor proudly dedicated her life to the noble profession of teaching, where she shaped the minds of countless students.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dale Carson; and her two brothers-in-law, Walter Platter and David Carson.

Eleanor is survived by her two sisters-in law, Doloris Platter and Linda Carson; a nephew; and five nieces, all who held a special place in her heart.

Eleanor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the State Teachers College in California, Pa., and dedicated over three decades to teaching English to young and impressionable minds at the Hollidaysburg Area School District. She instilled in her students a love of learning.

Along with her husband, Eleanor was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg, as well as an avid reader.

Upon retirement, Eleanor and her husband moved to Venice, Fla. and enjoyed traveling. Some of their favorite destinations were Williamsburg, Va., Disney and the Great Smokey Mountains.

A memorial ceremony to honor Eleanor’s legacy and celebrate her life will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Mariscotti Funeral Home, 323 Fourth St., California, Pa., where family, friends and former students will come together to express their love and admiration for a strong woman who touched so many lives. Interment will follow at Maple Creek Cemetery.

Eleanor T. Carson was a devoted wife who will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence and integrity. She will be dearly missed by family, friends and the students who she inspired to reach their full potential.
