Women’s club presents art awards

The Women’s Club of Altoona again this year recognized outstanding art students from Altoona Area High School and Bishop Guilfoyle Academy.
The ceremony, attended by the students, parents, club members and guests, was held at the clubhouse in the spring.
Ron Bowser from AAHS introduced his winning Art 1 students: Isabella Foor, Rocker Moudy, Livi Adams, and Savannah Chilcote. AAHS teacher Kathryn Curry’s students won for their painting. Mrs. Curry’s students were Joie Irwin, Camille Krug, Skylar Irwin, and Abigail Williams.
The students of Olivia Gennaro from AAHS displayed their winning ceramics. They were Serenity McLaughlin, Ava Cabell, Ella Albright, and Lena Bowersox.
From Bishop Guilfoyle Emily Altmanshofer introduced her students: Lauren Lehman, Sydney Burns, Emmalee Snyder, Kexin Li, Logan Settle, and Sophia Fiore. They won for painting and multimedia design.
All of the students talked about their art as to inspiration, technique, and level of difficulty. Each winning art student received a certificate and a monetary award.
Members of the Women’s Club Art Award Committee were Kit Dangler, Mary K DeLeo, Anne Dixon, Jacklyn Grove, Janet Grove, Sharlene Kirsch, Maureen Kirsch, Barbara Kooman, and Deborah Thomas.
