The Northern Cambria High School team, Electrifying Wind, won the KidWind State Championship at Penn State University on March 29.

The team had to design a wind turbine to create the most amount of electricity, including the blades, gearbox and stand.

After its last competition, the team completely redesigned their turbine and gear box. During testing, they produced 47,000 mWs, which was almost double the rate of the team that placed second.

Each team also had to do a 10-minute presentation that included their design process and the materials they used in the construction of their turbine.

They received a near-perfect score on their presentation and their design. The students traveled to Colorado for the National KidWind Championship.

This team includes Ethan Donatelli, Mikey Konitsky, Jack Sheredy, Jonny Kirsch and Ethan Blickenderfer.
