WISE Women presents spring scholarships

Blair County organization awards $17,000

WISE Women of Blair County announced the scholarship recipients for its spring 2026 scholarship application period.

These scholarships are available to women residents of Blair County, 21 years of age and older who have overcome adversity or discrimination in their lives and are pursuing post-secondary education.

WISE stands for Women Involved in Scholarship and Empowerment. Its mission is to empower women and encourage acceptance and inclusion of all through collaboration, service and education.

A total of $17,000 was awarded to the following seven women:

n Alainy Liang, a student at Altoona Beauty School (M&T Scholarship).

n Libby Keller, a student in the bachelor of arts degree program in Chinese and Spanish language and culture with a minor in education, anthropology, linguistics and literature at Bennington College in Bennington, Vt. (WISE Scholarship).

n April Ruehle, a student in the bachelor of arts degree program in psychology at the Penn State- World Campus (received a WISE Scholarship and the Donna D. Gority Scholarship).

n Erin Harlow, a student in the bachelor of arts degree program in art and English at Penn State Altoona (WISE Scholarship).

n Abigail Dean, a student in the bachelor of science degree program in environmental studies at Penn State Altoona (Donna D. Gority Scholarship).

n Ivy Powles, a student in the bachelor of science degree program in nursing at Penn State Altoona (WISE and Santella Scholarships).

n Lydia Seltzer, a student in the bachelor of science degree program in environmental science with a minor in communications at Juniata College, Huntingdon (WISE scholarship).

The scholarships are awarded through the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation.

The next scholarship application period will be for fall 2026. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Sept. 25.
