Name: Kihlee Noel School: Altoona Area Age: 16 Grade: Sophomore Sport: Track and field Athlete of the week achievement: Noel won the shot put and discus in a win over Harrisburg. She placed second in the shot and third in the discus at the Lock Haven Invitational, and she leads the Mirror’s Track Honor Roll in both of those events. Season update: Noel’s personal record in shot put is 38 feet, 2.5 inches (a new sophomore record for the Lady Lions) and in the discus it is 112 feet, 7 inches. Name: Carson Kensinger School: Hollidaysburg Area Age: 17 Grade: Senior Sport: Baseball Athlete of the week achievement: Kensinger struck out 11 batters and allowed just one earned run in a victory over Bishop Guilfoyle, and he went 8-for-17 with two home runs, two doubles, a triple and nine RBIs for the Golden Tigers in a week they went 3-1 with their only loss coming to state power Bellefonte, 12-11. Name: Jenna Helsel School: Claysburg-Kimmel Age: 18 Grade: Senior Sport: Softball Athlete of the week achievement: Helsel had two hits and an RBI in a 6-0 win over Curwensville. She also had a double and three RBIs in C-K’s 10-0 win over Northern Bedford and capped her week with a double and a triple and two RBIs in a 15-0 at Juniata Valley. Name: Tanner Stroup School: Altoona Area Age: 16 Grade: Sophomore Sport: Baseball Athlete of the week achievement: Stroup went 3-for-6 with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored in Altoona’s 14-11 win over State College. He followed that by going 2-for-2 with a double and scored the game’s only run in the Mountain Lions’ 1-0 win over Chambersburg.
