Name: Madison Kennedy

School: Central

Grade: Senior

Sport: Softball, track and field

Athlete of the week achievement: Kennedy had two RBIs and was the winning pitcher, striking out 10, in Central softball's win over Tyrone. She then had three hits, three RBIs and a home run in a win over Johnstown. Later in the week, she won the javelin event with a throw of 118 feet, 4 inches at the Giant Eagle Invitational for the Central track and field team.

Season update: Kennedy is hitting .545 with five RBIs and is 2-0 in the pitching circle with 16 strikeouts.

Proudest athletic achievement: "I was awarded first-team all-state for softball and placing third in javelin at the Altoona Igloo Invitational, which was my first time competing for track and field."

How I got my start in softball: "In third grade, my older sister convinced me to join youth softball with her."

Future goal: Place in districts for javelin and compete in the District 6 championship in softball. Attend Penn State and get a degree in Aerospace Engineering.
