LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County softball team hosted Altoona in a District Class 6A semifinal contest on Thursday. The Huskies came out victorious for a 15-8 win over the Mountain Lions. Husky starting pitcher Piper Specht tossed a complete game, and Ava Baker belted a home run in her fourth at-bat. Alaina Sharp went 3-for-3 and was a home run shy of the cycle. Altoona notches first victory

Altoona won its first game of the year in dramatic fashion as Vionna Jackson hit a walkoff two-run double to lift the Lady Lions to a 6-5 win over Cedar Cliff at Logan Elementary in high school softball play on Wednesday. Lilly Snyder and Mary Worley, who hit their first career home runs, had three hits each for Altoona. Winning pitcher Charli Schneider threw a complete game with four strikeouts, six hits and only one earned run given up.
