Hornets survive over Homer-Center
ALEXANDRIA — Juniata Valley built a six-run lead Monday against Homer-Center only to see it evaporate into a 9-9 tie before an error allowed the Lady Hornets to pull in front again, 10-9, in the bottom of the sixth.
Valley eventually won by that same score when it got the tying run out at home for the final out in the District 6 Class 1A softball quarterfinals.
Lexey Smith drove in three runs and had two hits, and Chassity Houck had two doubles for the Lady Hornets.
Juniata Valley will play at top-seeded Conemaugh Valley on Thursday in the semis.
