Hollidaysburg freshman will play for tennis title

Hollidaysburg Area High School freshman Crosby Denis advanced to the District 4-6 Class 3A Singles Tennis Championship after winning two matches on Tuesday at Summit Athletic Club. Denis, the No. 2 seed, will face top-seeded Addison Lindsay of Central Mountain in the final at noon today at Mansion Park. Denis beat Williamsport’s Kayla Block in the quarterfinals, 6-0, 6-1, and topped State College’s Joanna Liu, the No. 3 seed, 6-2, 6-0, in the semifinals. Ritchey, Ratchford will battle for championship

The top two seeds, Julia Ritchey of Central and Marley Ratchford of Central Cambria, advanced into the District 6 Class 2A individual girls tennis championship Monday at Mansion Park. Ritchey and Ratchford will meet for the 2A title on Wednesday at noon back at Mansion Park. The two played a match last week with Ritchey coming out on top. Bellwood-Antis volleyball team captures tourney

BELLWOOD — Bellwood-Antis won the 16-team Bellwood-Antis High School Girls Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. Bellwood edged Clarion-Limestone in the championship match, 26-24. Bellwood went 5-1 in pool play, then won the Gold Bracket, which had Bishop Carroll and United along with Clarion Limestone. Ava Patton was Bellwood’s MVP for the tourney.
